Introduction — Panchakarma is not an ad package
Searching 'best Panchakarma Jaipur' often shows spa-style detox packages. Classical Panchakarma is different — planned dosha purification: purvakarma (deepana–pachana, oleation, sudation), main shodhana (vamana/virechana/basti/nasya/raktamokshana) and samsarjana (graded diet return). Arogyasudha Ayurveda Hospital operates in Jaipur (Rampura Dabri, Tantiyawas) and at a Chomu centre under Vaidya Aditya Ghosalya (Reg NR/AY/RJ/0007555). Under Vaidya Aditya Ghosalya (CCPT Kerala), plans form only after assessment — not an annual package for everyone.
What is Panchakarma — five purification therapies
Charaka and Sushruta organise shodhana and shamana. Five main routes: vamana (upward, kapha), virechana (downward, pitta), basti (vata, mutra vasti/anuvasana), nasya (head route) and raktamokshana (jalaukavacharana/siravyadha etc.). 'Five' does not mean all together — the vaidya selects suitable karma. A one-week 'detox' is not classical.
Classical background — Charaka and Ashtanga Hridaya
Charaka Samhita (Kalpa, Siddhi Sthana), Sushruta (Chikitsa) and Ashtanga Hridaya (Kalpa) describe Panchakarma in detail. Seasonal shodhana (kapha direction in Vasanta, pitta in Grishma) is noted — based on personal diagnosis. This historical context is educational; not a guarantee of cure.
Purvakarma — deepana, snehana, swedana
Before main karma, doshas are liquefied and readied for exit. Deepana–pachana (agni strengthening), internal oleation (snehapana — ghrita/oil), external oleation (abhyanga) and sudation (steam, nadi sweda etc.). Without purvakarma, vamana/virechana may be incomplete, uncomfortable or risky. At Arogyasudha purvakarma duration depends on the person — 3–7 days or more.
Pradhan karma — vamana, virechana, basti, nasya
Vamana: upward purification in kapha-predominant states — in physician presence. Virechana: pitta shodhana — dose and drug physician-directed. Basti: chief route for vata management — ksheera basti, taila basti, anuvasana. Nasya: head–shleshma–vata route — oil/ghrita medicines. Detailed pages at /treatments — e.g. /treatments/vamana, /treatments/virechana.
Raktamokshana — jalaukavacharana and siravyadha
Texts describe raktamokshana when blood and dosha combine — jalaukavacharana (medicinal leech), siravyadha (with caution), shringi etc. Not a detox trend — specific diagnosis and caution required. Avoid in infection, anaemia, pregnancy. At Arogyasudha only by physician decision.
Paschat karma and samsarjana krama
After main karma, samsarjana — gradual dietary return — matters as much as shodhana. Charaka's peya–vilepi–akritidhanya–mamsa sequence. Sudden full meals risk digestive upset and dosha re-accumulation. At Arogyasudha post-karma instructions are written clearly — do not ignore at home.
Who may benefit
Long-standing kapha/pitta/vata symptoms, skin–respiratory–joint imbalance, obesity-related pathya direction, seasonal shodhana when the vaidya finds suitable. Severe heart disease, uncontrolled diabetes/BP, pregnancy, very debilitated, children and elderly — special assessment or avoidance.
Who should avoid or take caution
Pregnancy, acute infection, severe anaemia, recent major surgery, uncontrolled BP, some cardiac conditions — no Panchakarma without advice. 'Everyone needs spring Panchakarma' advertising is not classical.
Panchakarma process at Arogyasudha
1) Consult and diagnosis (/consult). 2) Plan — which karma, how many purvakarma days. 3) OPD or day visits — depends on centre facilities. 4) Main karma day — physician supervision. 5) Samsarjana and follow-up. No hidden '7-day package' fee — personal quote. Selected Panchakarma at Chomu centre.
Jaipur and Rampura Dabri — local access
Rampura Dabri (Tantiyawas) main centre — easy access from Jaipur city, airport area, Mansarovar. Regular OPD hours and WhatsApp follow-up for longer Panchakarma. 'Panchakarma centre Jaipur' searches mix spas and hospitals — for classical care, look for NCISM-registered vaidya, clear process and personal plan.
Why not Panchakarma at home
Vamana/virechana risk dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, falls. Basti risks vascular injury. Nasya risks adverse head effects. Texts require supervision and emergency readiness. Home 'drink ghrita and purgate' social media advice is not medicine.
Integration with yoga and diet
During and after Panchakarma, yoga — only vaidya-approved light pranayama/rest; vigorous asana often not. Pathya (/diet-plan) is part of samsarjana. Yoga therapy (/yoga) may join in later phase — shodhana first, then stability.
Limitations and realistic expectations
Panchakarma is considered supportive of body purification and dosha management — not magical disease erasure. Structural damage (severe arthritis, slip) needs modern evaluation. We do not guarantee outcomes.
