What is Swarnaprashana and when is it done?
Kashyapa Samhita describes giving purified gold medicine to children on specific dates (often Pushya nakshatra). It is considered supportive of intellect, resilience and growth — only under a trained vaidya, with purified medicine and prior assessment. Do not use home ‘gold water’ or informal mixes. At Arogyasudha in Jaipur–Rampura, plans start only after suitability review.
Is Swarnaprashana safe for all children?
No — generally not with congenital disorders, severe allergy, acute fever, hospitalisation or uncontrolled seizures. Prior assessment is mandatory. The vaidya decides from age, weight, agni and current illness — not from a social-media calendar.
When should annaprashana samskara be done?
Texts often suggest from the sixth month (teething context) — beginning with pure food, ghee and sweet taste. Set the date with vaidya, paediatric advice and family tradition. Early solids or packaged snacks can burden agni; a gradual one-taste-at-a-time approach stays safer.
Repeated colds in a child — what does Ayurveda say?
Viewed with kapha-vata imbalance, weak agni, seasonal mismatch, dust–AC swings (Jaipur) and poor sleep. Pathya, sleep, yavagu and selected kapha-soothing options are physician-directed — do not self-give sitopaladi. Breathlessness, high fever or chest pulling needs paediatric/emergency care first.
Modern vaccination in paediatric Ayurveda?
Arogyasudha supports the national immunisation programme. Ayurvedic pathya, Swarnaprashana and rasayana are not vaccine alternatives — they may support routine care. For fever/swelling after vaccines, follow paediatric advice; do not add herbs on your own.
If a child's weight is not increasing?
Kashyapa-Charaka describe strengthening diet, agni-deepening and tissue nourishment — but modern developmental workup (thyroid, malabsorption, infection) comes first. Random ‘weight tonics’ can hide diagnosis. Build pathya with vaidya–paediatric coordination.
What to do during teething?
Sushruta-Kashyapa suggest gentle massage, cooling comfort and wholesome diet during teething. High fever, diarrhoea, dehydration or seizures need a paediatrician — do not blame teeth alone. Avoid strong painkillers or unsafe herbs at home.
Should children practise yoga?
Yes — age-appropriate simple asana, breath play and movement are considered supportive. Advanced asana, long breath locks and kundalini are not for children. Playground time beats screens; do not force poses with injury or joint pain.
